His Majesty is a majestic Ptarmigan perched on high, surveilling his kingdom.

The Ptarmigan is a game bird from the grouse family and is the official bird for Nunavat.

Kipanek is a Cape Dorset artist. 

The Cape Dorset style is realistic with a bit of humour thrown in for good measure.

His Majesty is a deep rich brown dappled with gold.

So warm and rich.  The high gloss finish attracts the light and charges the carving with energy.

Although His Majesty is a small sculpture, I consider it a Museum quality carving.
