Masterpiece Carving! Museum quality Sculpture!
I love these vignettes or carvings that tell the story of every day Inuit life.
I believe that the most poignant are Hunting scenes.
For me, these scenes remind us of the perseverance and inner strength required by a Hunter to face the harsh Arctic weather every day in order to provide food and clothing.
KEEPING THE HOME FIRES BURNING is a brilliant depiction of such a scene.
Our Inuk has a conquered seal lashed to his kayak and he is feverishly paddling homeward!
Bobby Anavilok is a well known and respected carver whose work I respect.
Keeping the Home Fires Burning is by far one of my favourite pieces in the Gallery.
