Gjoa Haven carvings have large personalities..
Clayton Keknek is a magician as he bestows a distinct demeanour onto every one of his carvings.
Can you see the emotion in the faces of the many heads on this transformation?
Surprise, determination, perhaps a bit of fear?
And all these emotions come from the position and shape of the eyes!
Amazing!
The serpentinite stone has some beautiful deposits of copper and a mellow yellow colour.
When I first saw this piece, I saw a skater balancing on one foot, gliding down the ice.
Wheeee!!!!
Gjoa Haven sculptures are never predictable.
